Returning

Hello!! again
I know its been a while since I have last updated this blog (two years exact)
As I've focusing on my masters its made it harder to keep everything up to date.
But I have been still a busy bee over my two year masters course.

I have also tried to keep a tumblr page as a picture diary on all my arty projects in progress
look here to see it > Laura Keer's Drawing Diary

Hopefully this blog I can return too now, I'm no longer feeling the pressure of student deadlines.
So I will use my free time to write about arty stuff including projects I'm working on.
To trying out new materials and mediums and creative theory of stuff such as options on London art exhibits and artists work I admire.
Hopefully thats enough to keep you interested In reading and returning to this old blog of mine.
As I will try to promise to keep it up to date with everything interesting :)

End of BA

End of my illustration and graphic BA course and the point or returning to normal life after graduating.

(My Anglo Boggart display of final paintings and book)
at LCC Illustration showcase of work displayed.

Taking down of the displayed artworks after the show to the end of a long era of long commutes and strange coursework briefs, either way I have learned from the LCC experience in self discipline & creating a visual identity in my work. So achieving both a commercial and personalised outcome.

Hoping to achieve successes in the future with more hard work in the years ahead, in either stepping into the commercial world or starting a master’s in September.

Natural Giffs

Playing with cinema graph / Giff format i recently learned.
I used some short recorded clips of last spring
Hopefully using this format to give motion to my illustration it time

... once of course i get a better understanding of creating a animation in after effects or flash

Words of myth

Taking further the letter play in world of "H"
I aimed to return to some character letters i started over the last summer.

Im gradually developing them further to a full alphabet.
Ideally I see there finished usage in jewellery form as the individual letters are strong.
(An a nice way of a personalised form for someones first name.)
Anyway its going to take me a while preparing them on illustrator to get lazer cut format with all the detailed lines but should hopefully be ready in a month or so..

The world of H

A letter world used for the pre 3rd year show everyone was assigned a letter for a group alphabet
my letter was "H"which made me instantly think of tree houses and a woodland home and people and creatures that might live within the trees.

I like the concept of letter worlds so might take it further in a side line project possibly in a screen print outcome i will see..

Child Imagination

I visited St Pauls primary school last summer for my imaginary world project.
Asking them to draw out there own imaginary worlds,
after this I merged their work on Photoshop into the 3 pieces shown below.

Returning to this research interested me,  with the strong links to childhood and with our imagination, before we are told of rules and responsibilities losing it in growing up.

As imagination stems from experiences in life surely it can used as a way of reflecting on positive memories and create a way of overcoming the negative, even if it is within our minds.

We are all capable of imagination it has its roots in every childhood, But maybe we should hold on to it, let it grow, rather than casting it aside as childish nonsense..

show time

Setting up in the well gallery this week with the first internal illustration show of the year
Showing what the illustration BA has to offer with a show of everyones work.
In despite the tedious detail in... waiting to set up, framing, printers, clip frames, and the many set backs that i faced last week in putting up work its all worth it when you see how pretty it looks on the wall.

display of my Anglo - Boggart character designs proved popular

whilst my larger panoramic piece seamed small behind the doorway
other pieces from other students in the show >>
